We have written about RFFL Fest sometime before. I participated in this festival, so i could shred some light to the moments that weren't visible for everyone.
Festival was open from 14 till 19 at Sunday, but for me everything has begun at Saturday morning, when i started my voyage with a box full of bricks.
Fest has taken place in photo studio. Everybody tried to create needed entourage - build displays and decorated walls with awesome LEGO Photographies.
This photos were taken by RFFL users - Versen and Y.brick. Seeing printed LEGO Photos on wall was interesting.
Main display was composed from multiple parts. For example the was Modular City display.
With multiple modulars, railway and magical Emerald Night (10194 ).
Also there was second city display, called "ghetto", full of madness, chaos, and fun. Every cm of it's area have something going on there.
Also there were individual models stands, retro sets, multiple technic models, and arena for robot battles. Let's get more details.
Let's start with the Piggy Bank that was collecting entry fare, exchanging it for badges. There wasn't any designated ticket seller, this time Pig was taking the fare. Everything was on visitors conscience.
Pig was built on sunday's morning, together with the stand. It was great to look at the process, although i was distracted by taking photos of everything around.
Let's get to individual model's stand. Many of this works can be seen on forum, but live impressions are different.
This stand have many different MOCs, from different themes, universes, but all of them were united with builders' mastership.
Batman's transport could be found near Doctor Who's sonic screwdriver.
Beautiful pocketship was sailing over them.
Giant chess accompanied it. This part look like exhibition, beautiful, but spare mocs.
It hard to distinguish anything, all of them are great and interesting.
And fan of any universe will find something for them.
There was even place for the Game of Thrones MOC.
Cat fans also could find something for them.
Retro sets were hiding near individual mocs stand. Many of this sets are 20+ years old. There was my favorite Aquazone, and good old Space.
Ninja, Power Miners, controversial Time Cruisers. I can't list everything. Most of these sets were bringed by Rrrookkzzz, and many of us built them, remembering our childhood.
I can't skip multiple technic models, all motorized using LEGO parts, altogether with Sbrick and Buwizz.
Trucks, offroads, big and small, either with doors or without them. There was even opening flower amongst them.
Like the red truck stand idea very much: properly positioned mirrors helped to see all mechanisms.
This display was very popular amongst male visitors.
Also sometimes cars were riding between visitors feet, mostly without crashes.
Next was "Ghetto", city of madness, place where everything is possible.
Crazy traffic, and craziness around it. Thousands easter eggs for forum users, and fans of different sci-fi universes.
Streets are crowded with cars of all sorts and colours.
... basketball court is hiding inside. Unfortunately it is too crowded, so it is hard to see how magnificent it is.
In one of the corners you could see the Weasley's Burrow, with Harry Potter and Hedwig (i won't mention some redhead family that lives here).
Mail is delivered to the lighthouse.
Next is bionicle-like figures..
Now let's go to second City stand (in fact first).
Accurate streets, small cars, space. It it easily distinguished from "ghetto" city.
But this city also filled with life.
Train goes by.
Minifigures live their own life.
They rest and work.
I think you should go to gallery and see all photos, there are a lot of them.
Also this city got small update, in the beginning it was just modular city, but soon robots have invaded it.
And transformed this city in the battelfield.
But it hasn't disturb the train. War Is War, And train - On Schedule
If it consist just of exhibition it could be boring.
One of interesting part was Robo-battle.
Visitors could take control and find out, whose Kung-fu is stronger.
There were many bricks to build with.
So many people could build anything they want.
As a result there was many interesting MOCs, such as DJ controller and earphones.
Also there were blind set building competitions.
FOLs explained everything to visitors...
...not forgetting to have fun.
The most important is big charge of positive energy and communication. These two days come in a blast, and i'm happy that i've participated in it.
