LEGO Lord of the Rings sets will be released at Summer, 2012
There were many rumors about LEGO sets based on Lord of the Rings setting, and today we received an official confirmation. The rumors were based on two facts - the release of Hobbit: Unexpected Journey Movie at December, 2012 and the releaser - Warner Bros., that has long history of cooperation with LEGO Group.
Warner Bros. as an owner of rights for the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the two upcoming movies The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again gave LEGO rights to use setting, characters and stories from this Movies to make playsets and action figures.
First sets will appear on shelves in June and will be based on original Trilogy. Hobbit based sets release will be tied up to the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey premier at December, 14.
As we see in this press-release there are noted not only the playsets, but action figures, so may be the Bionicle, Hero Factory, Ben 10 and Super Heroes will make friends or fight agains Elfs and Orcs.
Also LEGO has immediately launched teaser site for the new series. There is only one phrase there - Coming Summer 2012.
P.S. Know LEGO tries to release a game almost for every licence they receive. We had seen LEGO Indiana Jones, Batman, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Pirates of the Carribean, so i think that we will see announcement for LEGO Lord of the Rings Video Game soon. Anyway this summer will be a great for Fantasy. LEGO is coming with Lord of the Rings and MEGABLoks prepared World of Warcraft.
